Almost immediately upon arrival I had another job to do. Filming the progress of a development project that is promoting the sustainable use of fuel through a biofuel scheme. Part of the programme was the introduction of local money. They had named this currency Peces because a local legend said that every year it is raining fish in the region. It is a mystery that is never solved by science and it is widely known throughout Honduras. Just when I arrived this currency had caused some concern with the national bank of Honduras and investigations were pending.
My brother, who is the Industrial Expert on the project, thought it would be a good idea to promote the currency. This led us to making some footage of the people who were using and benefiting from the local currency.
Here we are visiting a farmer in a remote field.
Here I am filming off a rooftop overlooking the skyline of Yoro, the capital of Yoro Province in Honduras.
This is one of the chemists where the local currency is accepted.
Jelmer and Margriet are assisting in the preparation of the final scene.
We are ready to interview a farmer who is producing for the biofuel project with his Jatropha plants. He has them inter-cropped with maize.
This is one of the many little shops where the money is accepted.
