Impressions from the field
I wanted to share with you some of the colourful impressions from working in the field.
It is always fun to see so many people wanting to get their picture taken. Sadly the bridge has been destroyed by the last hurricane.
The transportation in remote areas can be a challenge. This boat had to wait for high tide to take me from one side of the island to another.
When the sun is strong like here, you really come to respect the farmers’ work.
When you are poor, you are not picky. These people fish in a heavily polluted ditch on the Nadi dumpsite .
Lutu village cooperation
The University of the South Pacific has asked me to make a portrait of Lutu village. This is a village in the highlands of Viti Levu where each villager is involved in the production of Dalo.
Dalo is a rootcrop that is a popular staple food in the South Pacific region. Lutu is producing Dalo for the New Zealand market. Each month they ship a full container to a supermarket chain in Auckland. In order to achieve this level of output the villagers have agreed on strict rules of conduct.
This video is currently in the editing process.
Let’s get busy!
We use the High Definition Sony FX7 camera for most of the productions.
